April 30, 2021 Arbor Program at the Railroad Park!

On Friday, April 30th, The Spooner Railroad Park was the recipient of a Silver Maple tree, given by the City of Spooner in honor of Arbor Day. We had an amazing celebration with coverage in the Spooner Advocate by Bill Thornley. Joel Zimmerman, Washburn Co. Economic Development Corporation and board member of the Railroad Park Board was MC; Mayor Gary Cuskey read the Arbor Day proclamation; Jon Alesch, Friends of the Railroad Park; John Parker, City Tree Board and City Council; Terri Reiter, Chair of the Railroad Park Board and on Friends of the Railroad Park; along with many 4th graders and teachers enjoyed listening to and participating with Forester Michael C. Luedeke. Mike spoke of the hope trees provide, hope of beauty, air quality, land value, shade, vegetation, HOPE! The students gave delightful, insightful responses and helped plant the tree. Sunny skies, mild temperatures, and the developing historic Railroad Park made the 2021 Arbor Day Celebration very special.
