History in the Making

We’re so excited! The construction of the arch or gateway to Spooner Railroad Park is progressing. Shawn Cahill and crew are downtown Spooner right now working away at this project, which has been a long- awaited dream come true for many organizations and people. The Railroad Park Board, the Spooner Business Improvement District (BID), the City of Spooner, the Friends of the Railroad Park, our Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce and the Washburn County Economic Development Corporation, as well as the Railroad Memories Museum/ Tim Belter have been eagerly waiting for this to happen for many years. Jon Alesch from our Railroad Park Board developed the original design, the BID donated $10,000.00 towards it completion, and Bill Marx, City administrator along with Terri Reiter, Chairman of the Railroad Park Board, with the support of above organizations and Drew lake applied for and secured a grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation CDI to restore the old post office grounds into a beautiful greenspace, the gateway to the Railroad Park. Stop by to see history in the making! Upward and onward
